English sign language or British Sign Language, abbreviated BSL, is a sign language used in the United Kingdom and is the first language or preferred language of some deaf people in the United Kingdom. The language uses space and involves the movement of theHand, Body, Head and face. many of the thousands who are deaf, as well as deaf relatives, sign language interpreters or others in contact with theUK deaf community use BSL. In 2011, 15,000 people living in England and Wales reported BSL as their primary language.
