BRICS () is an intergovernmental organization with membership of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates and Iran. Originally formed to highlight investment opportunities, the organization evolved into a geopolitical bloc, and since 2009 their governments hold annual formal meetings and coordinate multilateral policies. Bilateral relations between BRICS are largely based on non-intervention, equality and mutual assistance.
