What does PESA mean?
Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration
In the iodine method, sperm is sucked into the epididymal ducts without opening the skin of the testicle and by guiding a very thin needle. The usability of this method is low and the likelihood of extracting enough sperm from the testicle for the purpose of iodine storage is low. The operation is outpatient and takes place after local anesthesia is performed in the testicular area. If the needle sample is positive (PESA) the patient will be a candidate for infertility treatment through IVF (microinjection). Testicular biopsy should be performed if iodine is negative. After needle-pulling iodine does not require special care or medication, and the patient is discharged as soon as possible.
